"Mom? did you see what I made?"
"That's great, babe. I like... your use of color."
"It's black."
"I see that."
"Do you know what it is?"
"A
Star Wars thing?"
"No."
"A bowl with a spoon sticking out of it?"
"No."
"A wig-on-a-stick?"
"Mom! It's an umbrella!"
"And it's a lovely one, buddy."
*I* recognized that it is an umbrella right away! Must be my art history training. Go, Bob, Go!
ReplyDeletecome on Mom-it's an umbrella! I saw that first thing too-must be the fact that I am an artist-great umbrella too Bob!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah. Umbrella. Definitely. Must be my mom-training.
ReplyDeleteI saw that right away, too, but it may have also had to do with the fact that I've needed to use an umbrella for the past week!
ReplyDeleteBut "a Star Wars thing" was a wonderful educated first guess.
So weird. I'm the fifth person who knew it was an umbrella. But, that's because I'm Mary Poppins.
ReplyDeleteI recognized it immediately as an umbrella too, but I'm chalking that up to the fact that I don't live in the world of Bob, where many of the inhabitants are Star Wars things and wigs on sticks.
ReplyDeleteI saw the umbrella right away too and I thought "I wish I could draw an umbrella the way Bob does." So good.
ReplyDeleteTo me, it looks like a very special umbrella: you open it, and it rains only inside the umbrella. Because it contains its own storm cloud, you see?
ReplyDeleteha. Reminds me of my art.
ReplyDeleteNow, had it been handed to me upside down I would've said "Cool boat! I love the, uh, mast!"
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I saw was an umbrella! It must be my youthfulness ;)
ReplyDeleteWell duh...
