I have nicknames for Bob. Obviously, Bob itself is a diminutive of Robert. I mean other nicknames. I do not know where they came from but they are here and they do not seem to be going away. In a typical day, most of these names will be used at least once. I last made a list when Bob was three. Following is an updated, and somewhat abbreviated, list.

Don't get me started on my nicknames for the dog.
Why do we do that? It must be some subconscious outgrowth of the intense love that we feel for them. Like it's enough for 50 people so we give them 50 names. I did the same with my kids and dogs and now I have a 4 month old puppy that doesn't come when I call his (real) name.
ReplyDeleteI love your explanation for why we do this. Your puppy will come to "Poo Poo Head" eventually. Or so I've heard. xo
DeleteI LOVE nicknames. No one safe from them around here.
ReplyDeleteThis is an outstanding list. Well done, Skeeter.

Campbell is Bubble and Roofenshmirtz. Elizabeth is Bean and Pinkie LaRoux.
ReplyDeleteAnd those make total sense to me. You are my people. xo
DeleteNicknames? Never use 'em. Moochie doesn't either.
ReplyDeleteHa! xo
DeleteMr. Rosenbaby is my favorite. ;). I had a friend in high school who always called babies "pork chop" as a nickname.
ReplyDelete"Pork chop" is a great one. xo
DeleteMy 19 year old, 6'2" son is just SO IMPRESSED when I slip up and call him Tooter or Tooterfishy.
ReplyDeleteYup, he loves that.
What young man wouldn't want to be called Tooterfishy? xo
DeleteOh Em Gee! I use half of these for my husband! I'm a chronic nicknamer. I even do it with people who've told me they hate being called anything except their given name.
ReplyDeleteWhat's up with those schlubs, Lambkins?
I like "lambkins."
DeleteLove it! I too have many names for my 2 year old Charlotte.

DeleteI really enjoy the fact that a large chunk of your list vs dedicated to words containing different variations of "poo." I'm sure Mr. Rosenbaby appreciates it as well. (: Who doesn't love a good, endearing "poo" nickname? All my kiddos I take care of get "chickadee(s)," but they all hate it.
