"Because there's twenty-nine eggs. Why would the Easter Bunny leave twenty-nine? It just doesn't seem like something he would do."
"Why wouldn't he?"
"It's just weird."
"Yeah, you missed one, Bob. I see it up there."
"I knew it."
This made me smile.
ReplyDeleteOne year, when I was about 7 or 8, we dyed 13 eggs -- because that's how many Mom had on hand. I made that 13th egg purple and put a Tweety Bird decal on it because I thought that was the coolest thing I had, and I really liked having 13 eggs.
Easter Sunday, Dad hid all the eggs in the yard, and the neighbor boy and I found 12 of them. We hunted and hunted for that purple 13th egg, but it was all in vain. I was very disappointed to lose my favorite egg, but Dad couldn't recall where he'd hidden it.
Fast forward to the next fall. We were cleaning up in the yard, and we found the dog chewing away on something that smelled awful. You guessed it: it was the Tweety Bird egg. The dog was NOT pleased when we confiscated the stinky thing.
Yeah, that doesn't seem like something the Easter Bunny would do.
