1,460 Days

Four years ago today, I started Smacksy. I have posted something here every day since then. This simple action has caused a ripple effect in my life that I could have never imagined. I have made new friends, re-connected with old ones, updated extended family on our doings, and kept a family record of sorts. I have written a lot and that is something I love to do. I have gratitude for this place. And you guys. Especially you guys. Thank you.

Four years has flown. There is no end in sight.

  1. Congratulations! A fantastic achievement.
I so love reading every post - the sad ones and the funny ones, the informative and the intriguing - all the time delighting in 'watching' Bob grow. xo

  2. I look forward to reading Bob's adventures every morning. He is so funny and reminds me of some of the kids I've worked with in the past. I hope to do something like this when I have my own kids, even if its just a daily record for me.

I'm also impressed that you've never missed a day!

  10. Lisa, you were one of the original ten blogs I discovered. Of the first ten I found, each one is still around, and I am still following them. The original ten: you, ann imig, marinka, alice bradley... You have brought community to my life. THANK YOU for that, from the lonely woman who sat in her empty house one winter January morning looking for friendship, four years ago, THANK YOU!

  11. obviously like your web-site however you have
to check the spelling on quite a few of your posts. A number of
them are rife with spelling problems and I find it
very troublesome to tell the reality however I'll definitely come back again.

    1. There's nothing wrong with your spelling! I've never noticed any mistakes, and believe me, I would - ask my students :)

  12. I check only 4 blogs daily and yours is top of that list. I don't get a chance to comment often (my 2.5 year old keeps me hopping!) but I so enjoy reading all the posts, funny, sad and in between and I only hope my little one will be half as great as Bob!

  18. Every day, that's quite a commitment. It's constantly amazing to see just how much Bob and his friends understand at such a young age, and to watch his capacity with language grow. Thanks so much for sharing.

  19. Thank you for your beautiful writing.
I read from the other side of the world.
I stumbled across your blog a few years ago, back when I was hoping to have children. Now we have two little boys, aged two months and two years.
Your parenting style and sense of humour is a big inspiration to me. Bob is so beautiful. Sending you lots of love.

  21. I'm a random person from Down Under who came across your blog a few years back now, and though it sounds pretty stalker-y, I love to read the conversations you post - does this make me some sort of weird internet fan? Your son sounds like an incredibly bright kid, and his parents sound like incredibly smart people. That is all :-)
