Last Night

Last night Bob spent the night with his grandparents and I stayed up way past my usual bedtime and went to see Mr. Rosenberg's band play. The place was crowded and the band sounded lovely, but the most important part of the evening was: I got carded. Carded as in, "May I see your ID please?" My birthday is on Thursday and I will be turning 48-years-old. Perhaps they card everyone at that club, I do not care to know. What I do know is that they carded me.

Best birthday present ever.

  1. My dad feels the same way when he's asked to prove he's eligible for the senior citizens' discount. :)

  2. Enjoy it. I got carded right up until something happened. Like maybe I aged forty years overnight? And then suddenly, instead of being carded, I was being asked if I wanted the senior discount. I'm still reeling. But hey! That senior discount is awesome!

  4. Happy birthday, Lisa! I hope you celebrated with chili fries. (Bar kitchens where live music plays always make the best ones.) :)

  5. You should see the goofy smile on my face. It's almost as big as my head. Rock ON, woman! (I'm just happy when I don't get called "sir." Rockin' this short hair has its disadvantages.)

  6. I'm getting in my car now so you can take me to that club. I need it after the last show, where they carded my 37 year old friend and said to me, "YOU'RE over 21, aren't you sweetheart?"

    Bastards.

  8. My favorite is when they apologize for asking to see my ID. Like it bothers me, it actually makes my day!!! And I am jealous, I don't remember the last time I went to club.

  9. 48, that's an exaggeration, right? Because there is no way that's actually true.

  18. I have enjoyed reading your blog for a few years now, and you have introduced me to so many other wonderful bloggers, bands, videos, and other crazy miscellany.

I am really excited to see Jeff's band while he is swinging through Philadelphia. He is playing in a friends neighborhood, and I hope to make the trip to see him.

Thank you for your lovely, funny blog. It is a little gift I give myself every day.
