"Tomorrow is the last day of kindergarten. I learned a bunch of stuff in kindergarten like not to draw stick figures but make the real people. I also learned how to draw things for real instead of scribble scrabble. The most fun thing I did was the field trip to the farm because we got to ride the bus and it was really hot and we did sweating but nobody barfed and it was fun. Also in kindergarten I got to meet my friends Desmond and Felix and Fiorruccio and Alessandro. The best part everyday was the recess part because of the friends part. Next year I'll be in first grade. I've heard it's really hard."

Thanks for sharing Bob. it is very special to hear from you about your adventures in school.I'm sure that 1st grade will be hard but think of all the new things you will learn and new friends that you will meet.

Nobody barfed. This is a man with a finger firmly on the pulse of what makes a field trip good. I think he's going to ace first grade!
ReplyDeleteBesides making new friends, if the only thing Bob did in kindergarten was create that incredible flower picture, I'd call it one helluva good year.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Cheryl - that flower is stunning. I say he should get to skip a grade.

He'll be gone all day now, and so life prepares us for the eventual letting go. They call it one small step at a time but it actually feels more like a jump across the canyon for me. Somehow, I always make it...
ReplyDeleteHere's to an exciting restful summer with an occasional day of hijinks..
We love you, Bob.
Now I'm crying!

Here's a maybe: If you enjoyed Kindergarten, you will totally like 1st grade. In 1st grade you start noticing the things you thought were hard at the beginning start getting easier. My favorite part of 1st grade was my teacher, Mrs. Shepherd (I still keep in contact with her, 42 years later!) and getting better at reading and spelling. Have a good Summer & enjoy time with friends... I also still keep in touch with a bunch of friends from way back in 1st grade. Hope you have puzzles & art stuff to help keep you from getting bored. My "big" kids and I plan on going to the library a lot and watching our favorite movies this Summer. Stay smart & cool!
ReplyDeleteI'm going through the same things as Bob as a gr.12 grad. and my memories seem to almost match his haha.
ReplyDeleteField trips: all fun and games -- unless somebody barfs.
ReplyDeleteConsider the source, Bob; consider the source. I bet you'll do just fine in 1st grade. I wish I had a friend named Fiorruccio, because that's not a name of anyone I've ever met or even read about. I did have a pair of zipper-bottom pants from a crazy store called Fiorucci's, but they were no fun at recess as I recall.
ReplyDeleteThat flower is amazing!
