Carol Confusion



"Mom, who's Timmy?"

"I'm not sure who you mean."

"In that Christmas song. It goes, 'Timmy's having a wonderful Christmastime.'"

"No, they're saying 'Simply having a wonderful Christmastime.'"

"Oh. Okay... So who's Timmy then?"

    At age 3, I wondered who the Round Yon Virgin was in Silent Night. By about age 5, I had learned who the Virgin Mary was from my father's art books, and I decided the Round Yon was that halo always around her in Medieval and Renaissance art. After all, the halo is ROUND.

      I still ALWAYS picture a Renaissance Madonna -- with a prominent halo -- whenever I get to that line of the song. :)
