"Mom, since I have to sleep sitting up on the couch because of my cough, is it weird for you to sleep on the floor by me in the living room?"
"No. It's in case you throw up again... When you were a baby and you were sick, we didn't have a small mattress so I slept next to your crib on the floor on a dog bed."
"That's sad."
"It's not sad. It's inventiveness and love and responsibility. And it was sort of a big dog bed."
"Mom, come on. It's sad. Do you think a regular person would do that?"
"I am a regular person."
"Oh, Mom."
He's right. You aren't regular--you are superhuman. xoxo

DeleteMoms aren't regular. Kids make sure of it. (Hoping my friend Bob is feeling better today. And that you're back on a mattress in no time.)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nancy! xo

A.
Thanks, Anna! xo
DeleteYou are a better mom than I am - I put a bucket by the bed and say "don't puke on the quilt your grandmother made for you" and then I shuffle back to bed.
ReplyDeleteYou are wise. xo
