Nailed It

"... but Mom, I don't really feel like going out for dinner tonight."

"I am so tired, Honey. I'm just not up to cooking."

"Mom, did you know microwaving is not really cooking?"

I'm also over at Nancy Davis Kho's Midlife Mixtape today talking about a music man who is so close to my heart. I hope you'll check it out.

  1. Dear Bob,

When you're a grown man and have had a full day, please call your mother and tell her you now understand that some days even microwaving is too much cooking.

    Best regards,
    Your pal Cheryl

  3. If you ask my kids what the four food group are, they will tell you:

    1. frozen
    2. boxed
    3. canned
    4. handed to you through a window

  4. I'm sorry, but your son is dead wrong on this one. Microwaving DEFINITELY counts. So does making stovetop mac n cheese, for that matter.

    Sandwiches, too...

And what kind of kid doesn't want to go out to dinner?! Unless "out to dinner" in your house means you're going to some yucky health food restaurant, in which case, I'm with Bob.

Basically, I'm saying that you should be super concerned about your son's grasp on viable dinner options.

  6. If microwaving isn't cooking, I guess I should take "accomplished chef" off my resume.
