Sleep Tight

The Little Kid Bed

Tomorrow sometime between 9:15 am and 11:15 am, the big kid bed will be delivered. Bob is thrilled. From then on, he will be stretched out every night on his new Star War sheets snuggled under the warmth of his Millennium Falcon quilt. I hope it will be a place for sweet dreams. I hope it will be a place where the mattress is finally long enough that he can straighten his very long four-year-old legs.

Tonight he will say goodbye to the little guy bed. But I hope there will still be some mornings where I wake up to find him in our bed sandwiched between me and Jeff, and the dog and the cat. I hope there will be another morning like this morning where I wake to find him sharing my pillow and he will greet me again with, "Good morning, Baby Jupiter Mama." I hope all that.

  1. No mattress, whatever the size, will ever be a substitute for a snuggle with mom and dad.

  2. This was so moving and the picture so fabulous I had to see it a little bigger. Eek! Are those spiders on his pajamas?!

  3. That's a big move... for everyone :) He'll still be in there with you... I bet that big boy bed will get a little lonely with all that space!

  4. Oh, sweet memories.

Our youngest, the baby, Oh, I can't even think about the day I said good night to him in the big bed.

We smile at them through tears, really happy, but our heart still hanging on for dear life on the inside.
We all wear bug pajamas, too!

Can't wait to see the new bed pix!

  5. Ah yes, the big bed... my poor long legged daughter had boxes at the end of her little girl bed, so he feet didn't hang over. I too thought she might stay in a big girl bed, with all it's spaciousness.

Fear not, they still come to visit.

  7. I got Phoebe her big girl bed when she was just shy of 4. First night all was well, second night she fell off in the middle of the night. Since then no problem. I still laugh at the sound of that thud and then hearing her yell, "Hey what happened?"

  8. Don't worry. My 5-year-old son (my youngest) still wakes me up most mornings, by getting into my bed and greeting me. This morning, his "greeting" was drawing all over my arm and face with his index finger. He loves his Big Bed, but it didn't change his wake-ups!

  11. Oh, I know that bedding set! It will be perfect for Mr. Bob. And don't worry, Clark has had a full bed for almost a year and he still shows up in the King every night around 2am.
