After Dinner

"Mom? I'm full. I only have a tiny bit of room left in my stomach."

"Why don't you fill up that space with a couple of green beans?"

"It's not a green beans shaped space. It's a peanut butter cup shape."

"That's genetic."

  1. When we were kids, my siblings and I regularly tried to convince our parents that we still had room for ice cream even if we were too full to eat any more dinner because the ice cream would melt and fill in the empty spaces.

  6. LOL. My son must be related to y'all too. He has sort of an addiction. My friend gave him a huge stash as a gift for earning his black belt. One night, while eating a peanut butter cup after dinner, he turns to me and says: "Mom, I just discovered that if I take smaller bites (rather than shoving the whole thing in my mouth) I can enjoy the goodness longer."
After 12 years he finally "gets" that shoveling your food has a downside.

  7. Nature or nurture? Bit of both, I'd guess. He's a very, very smart boy, that Bob.
