Geographically Desirable

"Mama? I did it."

"What's that, Bob?"

"I figured out where heaven is."

"Yeah? I didn't know you were working on that."

"Heaven is near the airport."

"Which airport? LAX?"

"Yeah. Since God is everywhere all the time and also God is in heaven then heaven must be near the airport. Or South America. By the bottom."

"You mean like Tierra Del Fuego? Why the bottom of South America?"

"I don't know."

"South America sounds more heavenly than the Wally Park on Century Boulevard."

  1. Did he really say that? That is so cute. I remember when I was younger I believed that if I rode the airplane, I could see God when I'm up in the sky. Funny thing is, I have actually started looking for Him out the window. I love this post. Thanks to you and your son for giving me a smile, it really made my day. :)

  3. If he thinks heaven is someplace with white sand beaches and tropical drinks, then he is certainly on to something. Hope I am good enough to go to his heaven.

  4. I gotta say that his logic is sound. LAX, not so much.

  5. Heaven could be near an airport, usually there are a lot of happy people there, going on vacation etc.

I know it is nowhere near any DMV office or really any government office for that matter. Those places are miserable.

  6. When my youngest was about Bob Rosenberg's age, she began to wear strange turban things she had fastened on her head and would say, "This is what we wore in my ancient land."
It was cute, yes, but a bit disconcerting.
    Her ancient land?
Finally one day I said, "Honey, where is your ancient land?"
She looked at me, thought a moment, then said, "Meximo City!"
    Where? How? Why?
    Ah- our babies.

  7. Bob is a smart guy. Whenever I watch the airport scene in Love, Actually -- people smiling, hugging, reuniting -- it feels pretty close to heaven. Or at least what I'd like heaven to be.

  8. I shall now mount an expedition to this "Tierra Del Fuego" to find the Heaven of which young Master Bob speaks.

    Huzzah!

  9. It's all those fast food chains in a row that makes the airport so heavenly. Where else can you get a slice of pizza with frech fries on the side and an egg roll (for good measure)?

Come to think of it, maybe the food court at the mall is heaven...

    Dinner With Kir- come visit!

  18. As a longtime Wally Park customer, I wholeheartedly agree with this logic. Except for the bottles of water they give you when you come to pick up your car, it bears no resemblance to an earthly being's vision of heaven. :)

  19. I think god has instant teleportation skill or the skill to duplicate himself indefinately ;p.

Airport is still too slow of a transportation method.

  22. I was going to say that I should have figured that god would be hanging out in that strip club with the big "nude nudes" sign, but then I googled it and found out that place was torn down to make more parking in 2009. Now I wish I'd gotten a picture of it.
