Ready to Party

"Mama, is it my birthday yet?"

"No. Your birthday's in May. We have a ways to go yet."

"So it's after this day? When I wake up, after breakfast?"

"It's more than three months away, but it'll be here before you know it."

"But I do know it and it takes a long time."

"Sorry, babe. There are other holidays to celebrate between now and then."

"Oh! I have a super great idea! Do you want to know it?"

"Yes I do."

"We can celebrate my birthday everyday! It would be super great to do that."

"If we had your birthday everyday, then it wouldn't be special any more, now would it?

"Yes it would. It very, very would."

  2. OMG, we are living the same life...I've had the same exact conversation with my son about five times in the last few weeks. His birthday is in May too and he's so excited about it. He keeps asking when it's coming. I say something similar to your answers. Very cute!!!

  3. My son had a pretend birthday yesterday. Even the dog got an invitation. Which he took way too seriously.

  4. Oh sweet Bob. Someday he will appreciate having a birthday so far away from Christmas. Mine is June and it really is nice. Clark can throw him a pretend birthday party and teach him robot lessons if he's interested. They're some of the best robot lessons I have personally ever witnessed, if that makes a difference. Why does that cake look so good?

  5. My soon to be six year old still has trouble understanding why her little brother's birthday comes before hers. I explain to her that HIS birthday is in January and her birthday is in March, but she was born two years earlier....

"Yeah, but why is his first?"

  6. That is a very smart kid.

My little guy keeps asking me if I'm done having birthdays.

    I'm still undecided.

  8. I've said it before and I'll say it again - Bob for President! Daily birthday cake would be the BEST law ever. The cake in that pic looks super tasty and has me jonesing for the sugar!

  10. As long is there is cake everyday, I'm in.

My 3yr old daughter is obsessed with various holidays she thinks all happened "yesterday." Halloween, Christmas, 4th of July parade...Girl has no sense of time!
